One of the largest mental health struggles we have before and after weight loss surgery, body image. It is not uncommon, the weight of the person to reach the goal, and they say with WLS back to compliment on receipt of the "Yeah, but my [fill in the blank] is a real mess to ugly, still fat", etc. Have you heard about yourself to respond to this compliment? It is a painful challenge to nourish healthy body image, because the body is often negative image from childhood.
Recently I learned 9-year-old girl who refuses to wear his jacket during the winter. Why? "It makes me look fat." He is not alone.
